Swim With The Sharks At New ‘Dangerous Animals’ Inspired Website

As summer rapidly approaches like a hungry shark locked on an unsuspecting seal, we’re preparing for a plethora of genre releases to hit our screens. One such release is in Sean Byrne’s newest film, Dangerous Animals, which brings together two of horror’s great loves: sharks and serial killers. In anticipation of the release, a new website for Tucker’s Experience has been launched where you can book a trip with Captain Tucker (played by Jai Courtney) himself!
Now, if you aren’t familiar with Dangerous Animals, in the new film, “When Zephyr, a rebellious surfer, is abducted by a shark-obsessed serial killer and held captive on his boat, she must figure out how to escape before he carries out a ritualistic feeding to the sharks below.“
Keep that in the back of your head as you read on…
According to the website, Tucker was apparently voted best captain in 2015. His company also won the best shark tour in 2017 and the tourism choice in 2018. Who awarded such high honors isn’t clear, but he won those awards fair and square! Right…? Plus, the site includes bright colors, a great little intro for the captain, and enough information to prove nothing fishy is going on here!
But the longer you spend on the site, the more you realize something is wrong. In the reviews section, while a few praise Captain Tucker, others beg for answers about their missing friends who were last heard from going on one of these excursions. Some even outright say, “Do not board this man’s boat.”
Then, the pièce de résistance is the video hidden in the website’s logo. If you just so happen to click on the logo, you’re taken to a strange video, captured on what looks like VHS of a woman being fed to sharks. It’s jarring, to say the least, especially after being lulled into a false sense of security with the bright blues and smiling faces on the home page.
It’s fascinating to see more horror films following in The Blair Witch Project‘s footsteps with the creation of in-world websites that expand the lore of the film before the respective title even releases. Neon utilized such a strategy for Longlegs, and Warner Bros. is employing something similar for Weapons. It feels almost old school to go back to using traditional websites instead of social media activations. But it’s also an even better way to hide breadcrumbs of sorts to tease the horrors that await astute viewers.
Dangerous Animals comes to theaters on June 6, 2025.
