This Gripping New Thriller Is the #1 Movie on Netflix: “1000/10″

Netflix debuted a twisty new thriller yesterday and it’s already claimed the top spot on the platform. The film in question is Exterritorial, which actually sounds a little like a German-language reimagining of the 2005 film Flightplan. I haven’t checked out Exterritorial yet, but I couldn’t help noticing that both pictures feature a similar skeletal outline. Each sees a frenzied mother looking for a lost child whose existence no one seems to have any recollection of. Flightplan was a smash hit at the box office in 2005, and Exterritorial is following suit by tearing up the Netflix charts immediately after premiering on the platform.
Similarities to the Jodie Foster thriller Flightplan aside, Netflix subscribers are responding to Exterritorial with ample enthusiasm. Some viewers have even taken to social media to share their reactions, the majority of which skew quite positive. You can scope a sampling of responses from viewers directly below.
As you can see from the reactions above, it seems like people are having a great time with this one. If you’re keen to see what Netflix subscribers are raving about make your way over there and give it a shot.
Christian Zübert helmed the picture, in addition to writing the script. Jeanne Goursaud, Dougray Scott, Lera Abova, and Kayode Akinyemi make up the core cast.
Here’s the setup for Exterritorial via Google Movies: During a visit to the US consulate in Frankfurt, the young son of former Special Forces soldier Sara suddenly disappears without a trace. And not only that: no one seems to remember him ever entering the building. Sara is asked to leave the consulate. But she knows that the German authorities have no access to the consulate. If she leaves now, she may never be allowed to enter the premises again. In her desperate search for her child, Sara disappears into the labyrinth of the consulate, unaware that the noose of a dangerous intrigue is tightening around her neck.
So, there you have it, dear reader. The newly released thriller Exterritorial (which bears certain similarities to a Jodie Foster thriller from the ‘00s) is currently the most-streamed film on the Netflix platform. Stay tuned to Dread Central for more updates on which films within your interest set are popping off on the streaming charts.
