Hulu is About to Lose an Acclaimed Indie Thriller Critics Say “Refuses to comfort or console”

A still from Resurrection

Streaming platforms are always mixing things up. Something comes onto one of the platforms, something else makes its exit from said platform. I prefer the reliably of physical media, but that doesn’t stop me from subscribing to more streaming services than I care to admit. What can I say? I like options. If you’d like the option to watch the 2022 horror film Resurrection on Hulu, I suggest you act with extreme haste. The flick is slated to leave the platform shortly and you don’t want to miss your window of opportunity.

When does Resurrection leave Hulu?

Writer/director Andrew Semans’ scrappy indie horror Resurrection leaves the Hulu platform on April 27th.

The film features the inimitable Rebecca Hall in the lead role. If her name sounds familiar, that may be because she also toplined the endlessly atmospheric David Bruckner horror film The Night House. Grace Kaufman, Michael Esper, and Tim Roth round out the balance of the cast.

The flick premiered at Sundance in 2022, shortly thereafter IFC scooped up the North American distribution rights. The distributor played the picture in select theaters where the film returned over $160,000. That’s not a bad showing for an indie film in limited release.

People who managed to see the picture seemed to connect. Critics have also been vocal in their support. Sheila O’Malley of RogerEbert.Com praised the film’s intensity and the showings from both leads. “…Resurrection is so crazy you don’t know what will happen, right up until the moment the screen goes black for the end credits,” writes O’Malley. “I appreciate wildness like this, wildness that takes risks and refuses to comfort or console.”

Here is the plot crunch for Resurrection from Google Movies: A woman’s carefully constructed life gets up-ended when an unwelcome shadow from her past returns, forcing her to confront the monster she’s evaded for two decades.

If you are curious to finally experience Resurrection for the first time (or squeeze in one last watch before it’s too late), you’ll need to make haste. The streamer will remove the flick from the platform on April 27th.
