XYZ Films also shared a behind-the-scenes featurette featuring an interview with a pastor from the parish where The Ritual was filmed. He speaks about working with the actors and answering their questions about faith, particularly when it comes to grappling with a God that allows human beings to suffer so greatly.

Midell co-wrote the film’s script with Enrico Natale. Emma Schmidt’s case is said to be the most documented and infamous exorcism in American history. Her exorcism lasted 23 agonizing days with nuns and priests documenting terrifying events of unearthly voices, and supernatural strength. That history is collected on the film’s website, theritualmovie.com.

Pacino and Stevens star in the film alongside Ashley Greene (Twilight), Abigail Cowen (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina), and Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond).

The Ritual comes to theaters on June 6, 2025.
