A Qee For Charity
Normally I’m very against posting entire press releases here on the site, but since this one is something put together in-house, why bother explaining it any better when it’s already laid out quite well? Check out information on the Qeetastrophe Charity project below!
Dread Central and Level27 Clothing, in association with Toy2R are proud to present QEETASTROPHE, an online charity event that will see the auction of two 16 inch Qee art figures; one signed by legends and upcoming stars of horror films and the other signed by the greatest bands from this summer’s Van’s Warped Tour and beyond. The Qee Bear already boasts names like Karen Black, Chris Sarandon, Sid Haig, Tobin Bell and Paris Hilton while the Qee Bunny includes members of Bad Religion, Good Charlotte, Alkaline Trio, New Found Glory, Avenged Sevenfold and Cartel.
The Qeetastrophe Project was born from the pain felt by the families of Paul Nicholasi of Dread Central and his good friend Steve Sievers of the Level27 Clothing, who have lost loved ones to Cancer. Seeking to strike a blow in their names and send a message to the world, the pair repurposed two 16 inch, glow in the dark Qee figures as auction pieces, enlisting their friends in the worlds of horror and music to sign them. Proceeds from the two auctions will benefit St. Jude’s Pediatric Research Hospital.
“On TV at any given time of the day, you’ll find advertisements for Cancer treatment centers” remarked Paul Nicholasi of Dread Central. “It’s become big business and you have to ask yourself why there is so much more cancer in the world today than there was even five years ago. On this subject, apathy can be the real killer. We hope to raise awareness to this growing crisis and hopefully, give some children a fighting chance at the same time.”
Currently, the Qeetastrophe Project includes over 40 stars of horror films past and present and 19 bands. The pieces will be completed in the next couple of weeks and will be up for auction the end of November. For a full list and updates on this project, please visit the project’s MySpace page.
NOTE: We are currently seeking opportunities to get our Qees some camera time. If you work on a broadcast show and would like to place the Qee in the background for a day, please get in touch.
