‘The Last Straw’ Exclusive Clip: A Tense Kitchen Meeting
Home invasion meets a small-town diner in Alan Scott Neal‘s feature film debut The Last Straw. Think Francis Galluppi’s The Last Stop In Yuma County, but more grindhouse and drenched in blood and fry grease. In honor of the film’s release, we have an exclusive clip from the film!
Read the full synopsis below:
A young waitress working the overnight shift alone at a rural, roadside diner finds herself in a fight for her life when she’s terrorized by a group of masked assailants. With no one to turn to, she will do everything she can to survive the night, even if it means striking back.
In our exclusive clip from the film, the young server tries to exert control over the male kitchen staff. But her attempt at showing power isn’t taken so well.

The Last Straw had its world premiere at last year’s Beyond Fest. In her review from the festival, Dread Central’s Mary Beth McAndrews wrote,
“The Last Straw leans into gritty, exploitation film vibes with this violent rollercoaster ride, while also examining a world poisoned by toxic masculinity and warped expectations of what it means to be a man. Neal is creating a contemporary grindhouse film here, and is mostly successful with this gnarly version of the worst day of someone’s life.”
Neal directed the film from a script by Taylor Sardoni. Alan Palomo of Neon Indian composed the score.
Jessica Belkin (American Horror Story: Hotel), Taylor Kowalski (Snowfall), and Jeremy Sisto (Thirteen, Clueless) star in the film.
The Last Straw comes to select theaters, digital, and VOD on September 20, 2024 from Shout! Studios.
