Keep calm, horror fans, but it really does look like we’re getting the long-awaited reimagining of Stephen King’s Salem’s Lot this October! Stuck in development hell for years, the Gary Dauberman-helmed adaptation is finally coming to Max on October 3, 2024, and we have a new trailer to prove it!
Salem’s Lot follows writer Ben Mears (played here by Lewis Pullman) as he returns to his hometown while researching a new writing project. But when he arrives, he quickly realizes something is off. Something is devouring the town and it’ll stop at nothing to drain every resident of their blood…
Watch the official trailer:
The trailer contains all of those little nuggets any fan of the book will be salivating over. I mean, the trailer is literally crawling with vampires, so it seems that Dauberman, who also wrote the film, is poised to bring us beautiful sanguine hell!
Dauberman is no stranger to adapting the works of Stephen King. Previously, he wrote both IT and IT: Chapter Two, with the first being the highest-grossing horror film ever made. He’s also penned the scripts for the films in the Annabelle series. He worked on Salem’s Lot with producers James Wan (Insidious, The Conjuring), Mark Wolper, and Roy Lee.
Salem’s Lot was published in 1975 and was Stephen King’s first #1 bestseller in The New York Times. The novel spawned the 1979 TV miniseries adaptation from Tobe Hooper, followed by another TV miniseries in 1997 starring Rob Lowe.
Last year, King took to Twitter to share his feelings about the most recent remake, explaining how the film is “muscular and involving”.
