‘Tenants’: Listen To An Exclusive Track From The New Anthology Horror Film
The new anthology film Tenants features four directors—Jonathan Louis Lewis, Sean Mesler, Blake Reigle, and Buz Wallick—traversing seven floors of terror. And sonically supporting their vision is composer Andrew Scott Bell, known for his iconic work on both Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey films. Known for his musical creativity and ability to create bombastic scores, Bell brings his unique voice to a unique anthology, bringing the labyrinthine apartment building to life.
In the film:
After waking up in an unfamiliar apartment complex, a woman desperately searches for her sister while being hunted by a shadowy figure. As she makes her way through the building, unspeakable horrors befall the tenants she interacts with.
We’re excited to share an exclusive teaser of the film’s orchestral suite, composed and orchestrated by Bell. He said,
“The score to Tenants is my love letter to some of the classic horror soundtracks and composers that defined the anthology horror series genre we all love so much. It is an homage to the memorable sounds of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and more. I hope the music takes you down the twisted corridors of The Benedict apartment building and that this teaser gives you a little taste of the horror and tragedy behind each door. Tenants is a horror anthology with some great laughs, fantastic practical effects, and a whole lot of heart.
“It’s my absolute pleasure to share with Dread Central this orchestral suite comprised of musical themes from each of the anthology segments.”
Listen to the teaser below:
Mary O’Neil (Lunamancer), Christa Collins (Gutshot Straight), Myles Cranford (Anatomy of an AntiHero), Rib Hillis (The Tall Tales of Jim Bridger), Clarke Wolfe (Malum), Kathryne Isabelle, Easton (Psycho Storm Chaser), and Douglas Vermeeren (Jackknife) star in the film.
Mesler and Wallick wrote the film with Mary O’Neil. She said about Bell’s score,
“Hiring Andrew Scott Bell was the easiest collective decision we made as a creative team. His ability to tie music to story and draw the audience closer to characters is unmatched. We were lucky to have him tie the world of Tenants together through such a beautiful score. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.”
Wallick added,
“Even though Tenants is an anthology film, we really wanted it to seem like a single movie. Enter Andrew Scott Bell, who managed to retain a consistent tone throughout while still crafting a lush musical landscape that feels like seven short films contained within. From his beautifully melancholic score for The Hoarder, to his suspense-filled Bernard Hermanesque mania of Need Anything, all the way to the haunting melody and lifeblood of the film’s theme of You’re Not Supposed to Be Here, Andrew Scott Bell absolutely delivered for me as a director. I cannot wait for audiences to hear his work and experience Tenants.”
Mesler also said,
“Knowing we were going to work with Andrew for the entire film, I was champing at the bit to get to the spotting session. It was important to me that my two segments, Acting Rash and The Photograph, feel different from each other because their respective tones are so different. Andrew was able to do exactly that. Acting Rash has a quirky, dark comedy feel in its score and his music for The Photograph really evoked the J-horror mixed with a sinister fairytale vibe I was looking for. I imagine it’s not easy to translate words like ‘vibe‘”‘ to music, but Andrew made it seem effortless. I really enjoyed working with him and hope to be able to work with him again.”
The Tenants soundtrack comes to wherever you buy and listen to music on Friday, September 13, 2024. Tenants comes to VOD on September 24, 2024.
