Gothic Horror-Comedy Is Rising HBO’s Max Movie Charts Ahead of Upcoming Sequel
Tim Burton has enchanted movie lovers with a number of memorable cinematic offerings over his decades-long career. One of his most noteworthy efforts is currently captivating viewers on HBO’s Max platform. I’m talking about Beetlejuice.
It’s no surprise that the Ghost With the Most is making waves on Max of late. The long-gestured sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, is gearing up to hit theaters in less than a month. More specifically, the follow up bows in cinemas on September 6. After a number of false starts and years in development hell, the sequel we’ve all been waiting for is almost here. Hooray.
The upcoming follow-up will focus on an adult Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder), who now has a child of her own. When Lydia’s rebellious teenage daughter summons the titular demon, all hell breaks loose. Literally.

In case you need a refresher on the details, the setup for Beetlejuice goes like this: After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose “help” quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.
If you’re due to rewatch the enchanting film that started it all, head over to Max where you can do just that.
