The Kaiju kids are living their best lives right now. Godzilla Minus One just stomped through the box office, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters was the reason most of us kept Apple TV+ this winter. So, it makes sense that Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim would end up on at least one streamer right now. However, so many fans have hit play on the star-studded sci-fi movie that it cracked the Netflix Top 10 Charts. If you are late to this massive monster party, allow me to tell you what you missed out on.

In the film,

“Long ago, legions of monstrous creatures called Kaiju arose from the sea, bringing with them all-consuming war. To fight the Kaiju, mankind developed giant robots called Jaegers, designed to be piloted by two humans locked together in a neural bridge. However, even the Jaegers are not enough to defeat the Kaiju, and humanity is on the verge of defeat. Mankind’s last hope now lies with a washed-up ex-pilot (Charlie Hunnam), an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi), and an old, obsolete Jaeger.”

Guillermo del Toro fans are blown away by how stunning this film looks after all these years. Others are still shocked at how many of their favorite actors appear in this Kaiju cult classic.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro. The screenplay was written by Travis Beacham and Guillermo del Toro. The cast includes Idris Elba, Charlie Hunnam, Charlie Day, Sarah Paulson, Connie Nielsen, Ron Perlman, and Peter Fonda.

We love to see overlooked films get their moment in the sun. We are also here for PG-13 Kaiju films helmed by big-name directors. After all, it is the only way to raise the children correctly.

Are you planning to catch Pacific Rim while it is on Netflix? Where does it fall in your ranking of Guillermo del Toro movies? You can answer both of those questions at @misssharai.
