The Playboy Murders are Exposed in Top-Charting Documentary: “I feel sick”

Max Playboy Murders

It’s not often a true crime series gets more than one season. In today’s age of infinite content—and I use that label begrudgingly—true crime series are often of the limited series variety. They premiere, captivate the public consciousness, and then vanish just as quickly. In their place, there will inevitably be another, this time with a case even more mysterious, more shocking, than what came before. Our own Tyler Doupé has been killing it lately with his work on either real-life horrors (check one out here) or dark documentaries, some new, some old, available to stream. The Playboy Murders might have slipped by some radars last year, though Season 2 recently premiered where it charted on Max with the second season now underway. Check out a trailer and synopsis below.

Per Max: Investigating murders that intersect with Playboy, exposing the pitfalls of fame for those appearing on their pages and forcing audiences to question everything they thought they knew about one of America’s most recognizable publications.

True crime needs an angle, and there’s seldom a better pairing than murder and sex. The first season followed several different murders, while Season 2 seems to focus principally on the murder of Michael Tardio, boyfriend of former model Sandy Bentley, in 2002. It’s a wild case involving embezzlement, fraud, and, of course, sex. The series is executive produced by former playmate Holly Madison, and for everyone with even a passing interest, I would suggest checking it out.

Check out what some other fans have said online. We’re in an era of true crime, so it’s no surprise The Playboy Murders has been a hit on Max.
