Just a week after announcing that “Breaking Bad” would soon be getting its own spinoff, today comes the news that AMC is looking to give the same treatment to another popular show of theirs, “The Walking Dead.”
As reported by Deadline, “The Walking Dead” executive producers Gale Ann Hurd, Robert Kirkman and David Alpert will be executive producing the new series, which is set to launch in 2015. According to Charlie Collier, AMC’s president and general manager, the show will have “an entirely new story and cast of characters. It’s a big world, and we can’t wait to give fans another unforgettable view of the zombie apocalypse,” said Collier.
Robert Kirkman, who created the comic book series that the show was based on, also expressed his excitement in the new project, saying that he “couldn’t be more thrilled about getting the chance to create a new corner of ‘The Walking Dead’ universe. The opportunity to make a show that isn’t tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.”
Season 4 of the “The Walking Dead” kicks off on October 13th, and Kirkman describes it as the show’s best season yet.
Bring it on. All of it!
In the highly anticipated new season, we find Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the group fostering a thriving community in the safe haven of the prison. Sadly, in this brutal world, happiness is short-lived and walkers and outside threats are no match for danger brewing inside the fences. The group’s home and new way of life will be thoroughly tested, and their struggle to survive has never been so perilous. Season 4 also introduces several new characters including Bob Stookey (Lawrence Gilliard, Jr.; “The Wire”).
