Salem's Lot Stephen King

The people are growing tired of Warner Brothers’ continuously leaving us on read about their upcoming adaptation of Salem’s Lot. After waiting years for even a glimpse of this finished film based on a beloved Stephen King novel, rumor has it we might finally have our first peek, thanks to Twitter.

Yesterday Liljas Library, a reputable Stephen King news account, uploaded a quick video that looks like it was taken on the set of the remake. On Twitter, they wrote: “Word is that this is Ralph Glick rising from the grave in the remake of Salem’s Lot.” A different Twitter user verified that their friend had taken the video and that it had been taken on set.

This is breaking news because we have not seen a trailer, or even received a concrete release date set for this year. This possible behind-the-scenes video will have to sustain us for who knows how long?

The film was initially scheduled for release on September 9, 2022. However, it was then pushed to April 21, 2023. Then Warner Brothers said that it might go straight to streaming on (HBO) Max at an undisclosed date. Fans are still waiting for more news as we worry it might become another tax write-off for the studio.

Very few souls have managed to see the film. One of which was Stephen King himself, who tweeted, “Salem’s Lot, currently shelved, is muscular and involving. It has the feel of “Old Hollywood,” when a film was given a chance to draw a breath before getting to business.”

The beloved Stephen King novel has had two television adaptations in 1979 and 2004. It is also referenced in shows based on King’s work, like Castle Rock. However, part of the excitement for this adaptation was that it would be the first time Salem’s Lot hit the big screen.

Check out the leaked novel tie-in art that hit the internet last year.

Salem’s Lot is directed and adapted for the screen by Gary Dauberman. The movie is based on the Stephen King novel of the same name. The film stars Lewis Pullman, Makenzie Leigh, Bill Camp, Pilou Asbæk, Alfre Woodard, and William Sadler.
