Hideo Kojima And A24 Are Bringing ‘Death Stranding’ To The Big Screen

Legendary video game designer Hideo Kojima is teaming up with A24 for a project that will become my new personality. Kojima Productions is partnering with the indie darling for a live-action adaptation of Death Stranding. When you are done screaming and crying, there is more to this story. Hideo also told fans that this is the beginning of a cinematic universe.
The man who gave us the classic Metal Gear franchise made the only announcement that matters on Twitter this morning. Kojima expressed his love for A24’s work before assuring fans of Death Stranding will be unlike many other adaptations. Kojima wrote, “There are a lot of ‘game adaptation films’ out there, but what we are creating is not just a direct translation of the game.”

Between this and his announcement that he’s working on a video game with Jordan Peele, it’s a very emotional time to be a Hideo Kojima fan. However, I am going to stop weeping at my computer and tell you about the epic video game Death Stranding.

In the game, “The game is set in the United States following a cataclysmic event which caused destructive creatures to begin roaming the Earth. Players control Sam Porter Bridges, a courier tasked with delivering supplies to isolated colonies and reconnecting them via a wireless communications network.”
The 2019 open-world action game was directed, designed, and co-written by Hideo Kojima. The other two scribes on the project were Kenji Yano and Shuyo Murata. Actors who lent their voices and likenesses to the project include Normas Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, Léa Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, and Troy Baker.
A Death Stranding sequel is currently in the works. A trailer has been making the rounds at conventions since 2022. It has been heavily teased that Norman Reedus will return for the game. However, there is no word on if he will be in the film adaptation yet.
