‘Welcome To Derry’: Get Your First Look At HBO’s ‘It’ Series [Video]

While we’re still upset about the Welcome to Derry delay, we can rejoice that the first footage has been released! Max (formerly HBO Max) released a trailer for their upcoming projects and included the teaser for this highly anticipated title. @DiscussingFilm sounded the Twitter alarm, and Stephen King fans were reminded there is something to look forward to in 2025.

If you somehow missed all the news around this show or need a refresher, then have no fear. I have notes for days because I keep tabs on all Pennywise-related gossip.

Welcome to Derry is based on the novel It by Stephen King. However, it serves as a prequel to the most recent screen adaptation of the story, It (2017) and It Chapter Two (2019). The series was developed by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs. The cast will include Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, James Remar, Stephen Rider, and Madeleine Stowe.

We’re all still wondering who will attempt to fill the ginormous shoes of Pennywise. After all, this creepy clown was played by Tim Curry and Bill Skarsgård, who are both tough acts to follow. While many of us hoped Skarsgård would reprise the role, he stated he hadn’t been contacted about the project in March 2023. This is odd because filming began in May 2023, so it does not look good for us who wanted Bill to return. However, anything can happen, as we all know.

I’m sad Bill Skarsgård is probably not returning for Welcome To Derry. I finally watched Castle Rock, and he seems made to act in Stephen King’s shows. Although, it does allow us room to speculate who might be our next murderous clown. Is there an actor you’re hoping gets a crack at Pennywise? Or do you think we’ve been tricked and will be seeing Billy Skars again? Let’s chat about all of the theories at @misssharai.
