Post Mortem With Mick Garris Is Going Out In Style
As the end of the year draws ever closer, so does the eventual conclusion of the iconic horror podcast, Post Mortem With Mick Garris. While our hearts are heavy about the end of an era, we’re excited to celebrate seven years of Mick Garris with an incredible farewell event in partnership with the incredible folks at Beyond Fest and American Cinematheque.
Taking place at Hollywood’s historic Egyptian Theater, Mick will record the final episode live of Post Mortem with Mick Garris, followed by a special screening of Mick’s 1992 film Sleepwalkers. This night to honor Mick and the show will also feature plenty of special guests, including Joe Dante, Mike Flanagan, Axelle Carolyn, Tom McLoughlin, Bill Malone, Ernest Dickerson, and many more.
If you haven’t been lucky enough to see Sleepwalkers, now is the perfect chance! In the film,
Brian Krause and Alice Krige star in this terrifying tale of modern-day vampires who prey on virtuous young women. Madchen Amick is the sexually curious virgin who falls for the new boy in school, only to learn too late that he’s a life-sucking Sleepwalker. Mutating at will from golden boy to savage monster, Krause stalks Amick to feed his seductive mother. As the tension mounts (and the casualties pile up), the town’s tabbies gather for a final, chilling showdown with the monsters in their midst – and we all know it’s not nice to hurt people’s felines…
Mick Garris shared with us about the event:
“After seven years of intimate and revealing interviews with the most accomplished and trailblazing creators in the horror field, we are bringing the POST MORTEM with Mick Garris podcast to an emotional and spectacular conclusion. Dread, Beyond Fest, and the American Cinematheque are joining us to celebrate our climactic final episode, recorded live at the newly restored historic Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood… and you can be there!
I’m humbled and excited to host many of the show’s esteemed guests onstage and in the audience in Hollywood’s most beautiful cinema. The perfect way to proclaim “mission accomplished” to our seven-year journey to provide insight and entertainment from the brightest lights in our dark genre.”
Filmmaker Joe Russo, who produced the show with Mick, added, “Putting on a show this big, in a theater this grand, I can’t help but feel like I’m following in the footsteps of my heroes, The Muppets. But, truly, there’s no better way for Post Mortem to go out than surrounded by our friends at Dread, Beyond Fest, The American Cinematheque, our past guests, and the most important ingredient to Post Mortem’s seven years of success—our fans.”
Tickets for the final Post Mortem with Mick Garris event are available now. You can listen to new episodes every Wednesday on the Dread Podcast Network!
