‘Imaginary’: Chauncey Wants To Play In New Blumhouse Horror

Imaginary

Many of us have read countless stories on Reddit and even heard them from friends and family about kids with creepy imaginary friends. Whether a kid drew a concerning picture of their new friend or talked about their terrifying looks, we’ve all felt that chill run down our spine as an innocent being describes some variety of hell beast that hangs out where we can’t see them. Director Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Truth or Dare) taps into that very fear with the upcoming Blumhouse release Imaginary.

Read the full synopsis:

When Jessica (DeWanda Wise) moves back into her childhood home with her family, her youngest stepdaughter Alice (Pyper Braun) develops an eerie attachment to a stuffed bear named Chauncey she finds in the basement. Alice starts playing games with Chauncey that begin playfully and become increasingly sinister.

As Alice’s behavior becomes more and more concerning, Jessica intervenes only to realize Chauncey is much more than the stuffed toy bear she believed him to be.

Anyone who had an imaginary friend as a kid, especially if it manifested as a stuffed animal, is already feeling the fear. I know am, at least.

Our friends at Lionsgate have also put together a small teaser video featuring a few kids and their own imaginary friends…

Wadlow wrote the film along with Greg Erb & Jason Oremland. DeWanda Wise, Tom Payne, Taegen Burns, and Pyper Braun star in Imaginary with Veronica Falcon, and Betty Buckley.
