Stephen King Announces Sequel To One Of His Most Famous Stories

Stephen King

If you are one of the few brave people who have stayed on top of prolific writer Stephen King’s most recent novels, you might be in dire need of a new book. It turns out that your wait for your next read is shorter than you were probably expecting. You snatch a copy of a new anthology by the horror scribe on May 21, 2024.

The book is titled You Like It Darker and features 12 tales of terror from King. While none of these stories have been shared with fans before, we do know at least one is connected to a very well-known classic. According to Entertainment Weekly“Included in the new stories is Rattlesnakes, a sequel to King’s 1981 novel Cujo, in which a grieving widower travels to Florida for respite and instead receives an unexpected inheritance — with major strings attached.”

Entertainment Weekly is sharing the list of titles for all of the short stories found within the anthology. They also have an excerpt from Rattlesnakes to help ease the wait for fans. I’m obsessed with all of that. However, I am still gnawing on this new Cujo sequel that I did not know I needed until today. Allow me to remind you about this tense tale that instilled a fear of dogs in many children.

In Cujo, a precious Saint Bernard gets bitten by a bat and then terrorizes a woman and her son, who find themselves trapped in a car.

Cujo was adapted for the screen in 1983 and was directed by Lewis Teague. The screenplay was written by Don Carlos Dunaway and Barbara Turner (as Lauren Currier). The cast included Dee Wallace, Daniel Hugh-Kelly, Danny Pintauro, Ed Lauter, and Christopher Stone.

If you want to revisit this harrowing Stephen King tale, or if you have somehow never seen it, it is currently streaming on Max (formerly HBOMax). However, I do not advise watching it with your dogs or children in the room. Take a peek at the trailer below.
