‘Halloween’ Sequel Goes Viral As Fans Celebrate Its Impeccable “Fall Feeling” Vibes

The beauty of the Halloween franchise’s many (many) timelines is that there’s going to be something that works for everyone. Some love the first Strode saga running from John Carpenter’s original through Halloween: Resurrection (or H20, if you’re like me).

Some love Rob Zombie’s gritty, honky-tonk take on the material. And some (read: me) love the sheer lunacy of the Curse of Thorn saga, which includes Halloween, Halloween II, and then Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers through Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. I’ve even got a lengthy franchise retrospective here if you want to check it out.

Now, Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers is trending on Twitter, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier.

Per Shudder: It’s a decade after the original Halloween massacre in Haddonfield, and Michael Myers lays comatose in a maximum security prison hospital. But when he learns of the existence of his young niece Jamie (Danielle Harris), he escapes to return home and fulfill his destiny of destruction. Can Michael’s relentless killing spree be stopped by Dr. Loomis (the legendary Donald Pleasence) or will this inhuman evil again survive the most frightening night of the year?

While Halloween 4 would be the start of the series’ slow yet steady ride off the rails, it’s an enduring autumnal horror show, a slasher movie that simultaneously—almost paradoxically—feels grounded in the real while also dripping with dreamlike, nightmarish qualities. The 1980s were crazy, man. It remains one of my favorite Halloween sequels ever, and it seems I’m not the only one.
