The 10 Best A24 Horror Movies, According To TikTok [Watch]

Pearl

Like other millennials, we love TikTok and scary A24 movies. This is why cinema.joe caught our attention with a list ranking 10 movies by one of our favorite indie production companies. We are happy to report we share quite a few favorites with the TikToker, who was brave enough to attempt to do the Lord’s work.

Tusk (2014)

Where You Can Watch: VOD

An unlikable podcaster travels to Canada to interview a weirdo with a walrus obsession. This Kevin Smith film saw Justin Long reenter the race for horror king. It is so weird and hard to look at.

Under The Skin (2013)

Where You Can Watch: Max

An alien disguises itself as a woman and seduces men in Scotland so she can send them to another dimension to be eaten. We love an extraterrestrial Doordash! However, I am surprised this made it into the top 10 when A24 has so many top-tier movies.

Saint Maude (2019)

Where You Can Watch: MGM+ and Prime Video

A nurse obsessively tries to save the soul of her patient, who is dying. Many people love this movie, so I’m not that surprised it’s on this TikTok list. Also, religious horror is always a little extra creepy, so that gives it an advantage over other titles.

Green Room (2015)

Where You Can Watch: Max

A punk rock band must battle their way out of a neo-Nazi bar after witnessing a murder. This one sounds chaotic, but I’ve hit my horror movie with skinheads quota for this lifetime. I will take TikTok’s word on this one.

The Killing Of A Sacred Deer (2017)

Where You Can Watch: Showtime

A surgeon is forced to make the most difficult choices imaginable after a teenage boy causes his family to become ill. This is perhaps Yorgos Lanthimos’s greatest puzzle of a movie. It also allowed us to see Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, and Barry Keoghan get weird in the same film.

The Lighthouse (2019)

Where You Can Watch: Showtime

Two lighthouse keepers begin questioning their sanity while they are isolated on a mysterious island in the 1890s. This movie looks intriguing, and I’m curious to see what shenanigans Robert Eggers gets up to with Willem Dafoe.

Talk To Me (2023)

Where You Can Watch: VOD

A group of friends conjure spirits for the adrenaline rush. However, the game goes too far when they unleash sinister forces. This is one of my favorite movies of the year! It is also probably much closer to the top spot in the A24 list I’ve never written.

Pearl (2022)

Where You Can Watch: Showtime

A mentally ill woman tired of life on the family farm decides she wants to be a star. Most of Twitter thought Mia Goth should’ve gotten an Oscar nomination for this role. I’m not surprised this ranks so high with TikTok because a lot of people loved this prequel to X.

Midsommar (2019)

Where You Can Watch: Showtime

A grieving woman tags along with her deadbeat boyfriend’s group when they travel to Sweden. They quickly realize they’ve wandered into a pagan cult’s ritual. Whatever we feel about Midsommar, it introduced most of us to Florence Pugh. So, I understand why TikTok would put it somewhere on this list.

The Witch (2015)

Where You Can Watch: Max

A 1630s family gets ripped apart by witchcraft. This creepy instant classic gave us Anya Taylor-Joy and put new life into the “Good For Her” horror subgenre. We have all been living deliciously since the first time we saw it.

Hereditary (2018)

Where You Can Watch: Max

A grieving family cannot catch a break as they realize the recently deceased matriarch had sinister plans set in motion before her death. Toni Collette should’ve walked away with every award for this movie. It’s my favorite Ari Aster movie, and I am not mad TikTok gave it the top spot.
