‘The Boogeyman’ Exclusive Clip: Director Rob Savage Talks The Challenges Of Adapting Stephen King

The Boogeyman

Adapting the works of Stephen King has been an intrinsic part of horror cinema’s DNA since the 1970s with the release of Brian De Palma’s Carrie. And it makes sense since King is one of the genre’s most prolific writers when it comes to horror literature. But adapting the author’s work is no easy task, especially when it comes to his shorter stories. So director Rob Savage and his crew certainly had their work cut out for them in crafting The Boogeyman, based on one of King’s scariest short stories.

The short story follows a man who visits a therapist to unload the horrors he has endured at the hands of an entity called the Boogeyman who has killed his children. It’s incredibly short, so Savage had to take some creative liberties to expand the story’s world. In the film, “two sisters—along with their therapist father—are reeling from their mother’s death. When a desperate patient comes to their home, he leaves behind a terrifying entity that feeds on its victims’ suffering.”

So what was it like trying to stretch the short story into a feature? Find out in our exclusive clip from an upcoming featurette from upcoming The Boogeyman Blu-ray:

The Boogeyman Blu-ray will include the following special features:
