Stephen King Approves Of His Latest Movie Adaptation: “This is some scary s**t”
Stephen King is never shy to share his feelings on a film or tv series. We turn to the master of horror fairly regularly for his streaming recommendations. He even has a few cold takes on stuff he has not watched yet. However, he’s always willing to stand in his truth when it comes to saying what he feels. He was even one of the people that had issues with the first adaptation of his novel, The Shining.
Well, King recently took to Twitter to talk about the newest movie based on his own work. None of us were sure what to expect. Turns out Stephen King is a fan of The Boogeyman.

Synopsis
High school student Sadie Harper and her younger sister Sawyer are reeling from the recent death of their mother and aren’t getting much support from their father, Will, a therapist who is dealing with his own pain. When a desperate patient unexpectedly shows up at their home seeking help, he leaves behind a terrifying supernatural entity that preys on families and feeds on the suffering of its victims.
The Boogeyman is directed by Rob Savage. It is based on a Stephen King short story of the same name. The screenplay is written by Scott Beck, Bryan Woods, and Mark Heyman. It stars Sophie Thatcher, Chris Messina, David Dastmalchian, and Marin Ireland.

See what critics are saying
“It’s a movie about killing the thing that plagues you, instead of learning how to live with it.” -Michael O’Sullivan, Washington Post
“The specifics of the creature… are just too derivative for the film to ever truly escape from the shadows, predictably recycling beat after beat, almost as if it were one long game of guessing which element came from which film before it.” -Benjamin Lee, Guardian
“The Boogeyman is a testament to the well-constructed jump scare.” – Hoai-Tran Bui, Inverse

“As stereotypical as they come, so devoid of originality that the most pressing emotion it elicits is pity for its leads, Sophie Thatcher and Chris Messina, who deserve better than to be put through this paint-by-numbers ringer.” – Nick Schager, The Daily Beast
“It doesn’t get into the meat of the protagonists’ troubled psychology so much as it gets into a series of PG-13 jump scares.” – William Bibbiani, TheWrap
“’The Boogeyman’ is the rare 98-minute film that feels like it needed further tightening to rein in its dramatic dalliances, but it’s also a film that hits hard when it decides to unleash its beast.” – Leigh Monson, AV Club
The Boogeyman is in theaters on June 2nd. Will you be seeing it? Let me know at @misssharai.
