Fans Compare The Most-Searched Horror Movie On Wikipedia To ‘National Treasure’

The #1 movie on Netflix is also the most popular horror title on Wikipedia, according to Flixpatrol. If you’re a fan of the exorcism subgenre then you’ve probably already heard of this 2023 title dominating the charts. For the uninitiated though, allow us to give you the SparkNotes on The Pope’s Exorcist.

“Inspired by the actual files of Father Gabriele Amorth, Chief Exorcist of the Vatican (Academy Award®-winner Russell Crowe), The Pope’s Exorcist follows Amorth as he investigates a young boy’s terrifying possession and ends up uncovering a centuries-old conspiracy the Vatican has desperately tried to keep hidden.”

This supernatural horror adventure is directed by Julius Avery. The screenplay was written by Michael Petroni and Evan Spiliotopoulos. The cast includes Russell Crowe, Franco Nero, Alex Essoe, and the voice of Ralph Ineson.

The fact that so many people are into it that it’s holding court on Wikipedia and Netflix is astounding. Most of Twitter is surprised at how scary the final product turned out. Others are making up drinking games as they watch this wild ride.
