‘From Black’ Star Anna Camp On Going Dark For Terrifying New Role

From Black Anna Camp

Anna Camp is known for very specific roles. With blonde hair and a dazzling smile, she’s often seen playing well-manicured women that seem to have it all together. Even when playing the villain in True Blood, she aesthetically epitomized the “perfect woman”. But in her new film From Black, Camp is going into completely new territory, deviating from type cast role into something much darker and terrifying.

In From Black:

A young mother, crushed by guilt after the disappearance of her young son 5 years previously, is presented with a bizarre offer to learn the truth and set things right. But how far is she willing to go, and is she willing to pay the terrifying price for a chance to hold her boy again?

Dread Central spoke with Camp and director Thomas Marchese about Camp’s transition to more serious roles, the film’s claustrophobia, and how Marchese’s own experiences shaped the narrative.
