Linda Blair Returns To ‘The Exorcist’ In Blumhouse Reboot

The Exorcist

The cast list for David Gordon Green’s The Exorcist just got that much more devilish! Linda Blair just signed on, and our heads are spinning as we spit up green vile.

For the uninitiated, Blair played Regan MacNeil in the original 1973 film. When it was announced that Burstyn would be reprising the role of Chris MacNeil, most of us hoped we would also get the return of the original Regan. So this is a great day to be a horror fan.

The new film will be a “sequel to the 1973 film about a 12-year-old girl who is possessed by a mysterious demonic entity, forcing her mother to seek the help of two priests to save her.”

The Exorcist is directed by David Gordon Green. The film is written by David Gordon Green and Peter Sattler. Based on characters from the William Peter Blatty novel of the same name. This installment stars Ellen Burstyn, Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd, and Lidya Jewett.

Because it’s a legacy sequel to the iconic 1973 The Exorcist, fans are having to wrap their heads around all of the sequels, and two seasons of a show, that will be discarded as we go back to our roots.

While we don’t know what to expect from Blair’s return, Above The Line is trying to keep our expectations in check:

Sources say that Blair was only on set for a few days, so she’s not in the film all that much, but her return to the franchise should make fans’ heads spin with excitement.
