‘The Black Demon’ Trailer: This Gigantic Shark Is Stalking Josh Lucas

The Black Demon

Spring has sprung! As many flock to the beaches for Spring Break, all we can think about is aquatic horror. Big sharks, big crocs, you name it, if it swims and is ready to wreak havoc, we love it. That’s why we’re excited about director Adrian Grünberg’s new massive shark horror The Black Demon, which swims into theaters this April.

Read the full synopsis:

Josh Lucas (Yellowstone) stars in this edge-of-your-seat action thriller from the director of Rambo: Last Blood. Oilman Paul Sturges’ (Lucas) idyllic family vacation turns into a nightmare when they encounter a ferocious megalodon shark that will stop at nothing to protect its territory. Stranded and under constant attack, Paul and his family must somehow find a way to get his family back to shore alive before it strikes again in this epic battle between humans and nature.

The beast is said to be related to Tlāloc, which is the Aztec god of rain. The god was said to hurl hurricanes and extreme weather at his worshippers, so tying him to an aquatic horror film seems apt.

Oil rigs are vastly underutilized horror settings, so that plus this megalodon-esque creature pushes The Black Demon to the top of our watchlists.

Josh Lucas, Fernanda Urrejola, and Julio Cesar Cedillo star in the film.

The Black Demon comes to theaters on April 28, 2023.
