The Top-Charting Thriller On Hulu Is Freaking Out Fans: “My heart beat so fast the whole time”

A beloved Shudder gem has found a new life on a different streamer. While most of us fell for this unsettling film last year, it’s finding a whole change of fan base after being added to Hulu’s service. This is why Watcher is the #1 thriller today.
In the film, a young American woman moves with her husband to Bucharest and begins to suspect that a stranger who watches her from the apartment building across the street may be a local serial killer decapitating women.

Watcher was directed by Chloe Okuno. It was written by Chloe Okuno and based on a screenplay by Zack Ford. It stars Maika Monroe, Karl Glusman, Burn Gorman, and Madalina Anea.
Many viewers have taken to Twitter to praise Maika Monroe’s performance. They are also giving Chloe Okuno her flowers for churning out such a tense first feature.

Because we’ve all been obsessed with Monroe since It Follows we’ve loved following her genre journey over the years. However, last year she fully snapped by appearing in two drastically different but equally exciting genre offerings.
Watcher hit Shudder around the same time Significant Other landed on Paramount+. Both further solidified her standing as a scream queen and reminded us to put some respect on her name.

We are also happy to see a feature debut by a woman director do well on two separate streamers. This movie is such a mood. We cannot wait to see what Okuno does next.
