Bambi Becomes “A Vicious Killing Machine” In New Childhood-Ruining Horror Reimagining [Exclusive]

Bambi

2022 is the year our childhood’s died. And no, it’s not because of the climate crisis. First, Dread Central exclusively reported on the upcoming Winnie The Pooh: Blood and Honey, a slasher take on the little bear in a red shirt. Now, we can exclusively report that ITN Studios and Jagged Edge Productions are back with another sledgehammer to those childhood memories. This time, they’re tackling Bambi, the sweet deer with a traumatic past and a forest full of fluffy friends. The film’s title? Bambi: The Reckoning.

Production begins in late January 2022 for the currently untitled project. We don’t have any plot details, but there’s an obvious revenge angle after the tragic death of his mother. Scott Jeffrey is slated to direct the film. He’ll work alongside producer Rhys Frake-Waterfield, who directed the already-infamous Winnie-The-Pooh: Blood and Honey.

Jeffrey said, “The film will be an incredibly dark retelling of the 1928 story we all know and love. Finding inspiration from the design used in Netflix’s The Ritual, Bambi will be a vicious killing machine that lurks in the wilderness. Prepare for Bambi on rabies!”

The creature design in The Ritual is massive and one of the most memorable from the last decade. So that comparison conjures up images of a giant deer with extra limbs, covered in blood. This isn’t your grandma’s Bambi, that’s for sure.
