An Evil Squatter Will Not Leave this Haunted House

Squatters can be a real pain in the ass. Especially evil squatters of the supernatural kind. You can barely see them, much less kick them out. Still, can’t blame ’em for staying if they did indeed live there once. Check out your first look at the new indie flick Squatter.

This supernatural horror flick, filmed at the very haunted Walker Ames House, is the first in a planned trilogy and is directed by Jerusha Pettit and Tracy Pettit (Crazy as Hell). Jeff Newburg (Cyrus, “Criminal Minds”), Andres Faucher, and Alexander “Lexi” Yulish star.

“Although the film is a straight narrative, there are certainly events and inspiration that have come directly from the town, its founders, and of course, the Walker Ames House,” says Pettit of the film’s shooting style. “We are also making a behind-the-scenes featurette that will contain actual footage. We are finding that the making of the movie is proving just　as interesting as the film itself, so we are eager to share that as well. We will be placing surveillance cameras at times, while shooting, specifically to capture how the house and all its inhabitants react to our filming there.”

Pettit continues, “It has been an interesting experience. We’ve seen and heard various phenomena: light bulbs dimming, sudden spikes in temperature and electromagnetic field energies, as well as auditory and visual phenomena. One example of telekinesis is of the lead actress’ bracelet. All of us here feel it is a very special location and there is a real warmth about it, a sense of growing attachment between the house and us. We are in close contact with the various paranormal research groups that have been investigating the house for years, establishing connections and learning about the various sightings. Working with the Olympic Paranormal Peninsula Society, we had an overnight stay in the Walker Ames house using eight surveillance cameras and audio recorders, and a scientist, with myself and lead actress Tracy Pettit. We gathered several findings from that night, which will go on the special features section on the DVD.”

Composer Ram Khatabakhsh is working with Pettit on the score.

The Walker Ames House in Port Gamble, Washington, was founded by Puget Mill Company in 1853 as a sawmill and company town. It is one of the few remaining company owned towns in the United States. The historic Walker Ames house was built in 1887. William Walker lived there with his family from 1883 until 1931.

Synopsis
Forced to return to her childhood home, Ellie Walker finds a stranger living in the house claiming squatter’s rights to the property and, as she fights to evict him, discovers a far more sinister evil has taken residence.
