‘Murdercise’: Where Fitness Gets Bloody [Giallo Julian’s Indie Spotlight]

Murdercise

Last month, I featured a film in my Indie Spotlight that was about to get its Indiegogo up and running. Well, said Indiegogo is now up and running!… I probably could’ve thought of a better segue, but given that I’m almost finished with my twelfth cup of coffee tonight, I’m going to give myself a pass. It’s hard to hit the keys when your fingers are shaking like this. Back to the point. Said film is none other than Paul Ragsdale’s blood-drenched fitness feature — Murdercise!

A month’s a good bit of time here on the internet, so let’s refresh our memory on the film’s premise:

“An obsessed fitness nerd, Phoebe, lands her first big break as a performer in a sleazy workout video. After being ridiculed and ostracized by her co-stars, Phoebe befriends a mafia princess who teaches her how to murder her way to the top!”

Directing the film are Angelica De Alba and Ragsdale himself, who’ve previously done such films as Streets of Vengeance and Slashorette Party. Ragsdale said of the campaign:

“We are so excited to finally launch the Indiegogo… and shoot promo videos and pics! We want to take our filmmaking to the next level with this project. We are working with many new people, collecting vintage clothes and cars to fit the period. Our campaign goal is much higher than our past campaigns, but even if we don’t make our goal, we will complete the movie no matter what! We have a fun and gory movie planned, so we hope genre fans will come out and support Murdercise!”

The cast of Mudercise includes Krystal Shay (Slashlorette Party, The Fall of an Influencer), Jordan Phipps (Close Calls, Amazon Hot Box), Jessa Flux (Debbie Does Demons, Voorhees: Night of the Beast), Ginger Lynn Allen (The Devil’s Rejects, 31) , Nina Lanee Kent (Slashlorette Party, Nite Time Creatures), and Drew Maverick (Pool Party Massacre, Scared to Death). Several composers are providing the film’s music, including The Grind Theory, Vestron Vulture, and Giovanni Mengarelli. As far as a release date goes, the plan currently is for some time in 2023. When I hear something more specific, I’ll pass it y’alls way.

To help support the film, consider contributing to its Indiegogo right here. Keep up-to-date on the production on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Until next time…

Ciao, friends!
