This Stephen King Film Is Now the Number 1 Horror Movie On Netflix

Only one horror movie is gracing Netflix’s Top Ten list today, and it also happens to be the biggest-earning scary movie ever made. 2017’s theatrical adaptation of Stephen King’s It is placed at number 9 on the infamous Netflix list, a rarity for a horror movie of any size. This is the first consecutive week It had made the cut, so it’ll be very interesting to see if Pennywise and friends are still around this time next week.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti’s mega-blockbuster adaptation of Stephen King’s most famous work is still an unprecedented hit to this day. Earning over $700,000,000 at the global box office, Pennywise the Clown is clearly as popular as ever. And after the first two New Line Cinema/Warner Bros It films collectively earned around a billion dollars at the global box office, word of an HBO prequel series began to surface.

IT the novel was written by Stephen King in 1986. It spawned into a 1990 television mini-series with Tim Curry in the role of Pennywise the Dancing Clown. The character would be made famous again by Bill Skarsgard in the reboot films, which together are the most financially successful horror films of all time.

The original novel told the story of a group of kids in the town of Derry, Maine who are forced to team up to defeat a very nasty supernatural clown. The group of survivors face the clown as children and then again 27 years later.

Lastly, how do you feel about the world of It being so popular? Will you be checking out the new Pennywise prequel series once it hits HBO Max? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always around to chat about all things Stephen King!
