‘The Munsters’: Rob Zombie Shares Adorable Friday the 13th Greeting Card With His Cast
It’s a holy holiday, everyone. No, it’s not Halloween, but it’s close enough because today is Friday the 13th! In honor of this auspicious day, horror director Rob Zombie took to Instagram and shared a little greeting card from him and The Munsters cast, wishing us all a happy Friday the 13th.
Check out the card below:
The card features, from left to right, Jeff Daniel Phillips as Herman Munster, Daniel Roebuck as Grandpa Munster, and Sheri Moon Zombie as Lily Munster. The sweet image shows off a little more of the sass between the characters. If you look closely, you can also see Grandpa Munster reading Playghoul, which teases the kind of cheeky humor we’ll be getting in Zombie’s interpretation of The Munsters.
A long-time lover of The Munsters television series (have you ever listened to his song “Dragula”?), Zombie is making it into a feature film. While Zombie is known for his gorefests such as House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects, he’s taking a more wholesome route with this next film. The director recently took to Twitter and confirmed that The Munsters will be rated PG.
The original TV series followed your typical nuclear family, except for one thing. They’re all monsters. The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis. The series ran from 1964 to 1966, airing a total of 70 episodes across two seasons. A later spin-off series, The Munsters Today, ran from 1988 to 1991. Through reboots and film adaptations, The Munsters has developed a dedicated fanbase who love this monstrous and lovable family.
There’s still no word if Rob Zombie’s The Munsters will head to theaters, or if it’ll be exclusive through the streamer Peacock sometime in 2022. Keep checking back to Dread Central for all the latest Munsters news.
