‘Candy’ Trailer: Jessica Biel Stars In Hulu’s Disturbing New Series Based On Real Events [Watch]

Are you ready for the violent true story of Candy Montgomery? True crime obsessives will remember that Candy is responsible for murdering her friend Betty Gore with an axe on Friday the 13th in June of 1980. Now Hulu is bringing us Candy starring Jessica Biel in the title role. The series will be a five night event, premiering May 9th on Hulu. Watch the teaser below.

In the limited series, Candy Montgomery is a 1980 housewife and mother who did everything right—good husband, two kids, nice house, even the careful planning and execution of transgressions—but when the pressure of conformity builds within her, her actions scream for just a bit of freedom. With deadly results.

The disturbing project also stars Melanie Lynskey, Timothy Simons, Pablo Schreiber, and Raúl Esparza. Lynskey is having a well-deserved moment since starring in Showtime’s unbelievably good Yellowjackets, for which she just received a Critics’ Choice Award. You can also catch her in the Oscar-nominated Don’t Look Up.

Candy is delivered unto us from writer and producer Robin Veith (Made Men and The Act). Jessica Biel and Michelle Purple (both responsible for producing The Sinner and Cruel Summer) are executive producers on the stacked new project. For the uninitiated, both of these series are watchable as hell, dark as night, and definitely deserve your time.
