‘The Munsters’: Rob Zombie Shares New Photo Update As Production Continues

As shock-rocker Rob Zombie continues production on his upcoming reboot of The Munsters, he’s keeping us well fed via his Instagram.

Today’s new BTS image features two principal cast chairs being transferred between sets, sandwiched between two new detailed shots of 1313 Mockingbird Lane. While last month we were privy to some behind-the-scene transfer shots aboard a truck, today’s transition seems to be much closer to home.

The entire Mockingbird Lane was constructed in Hungary, so it seems likely the majority of shooting will take place at this one built location. Still, we can’t help but ponder where they were off too last time. If you have any guesses, let is know.

We’ve been reporting on The Munsters updates since July when Zombie first announced the project. Since then him and his crew have uprooted to Hungary where they’ve built an exact replica of 1313 Mockingbird Lane. In fact, everything shared via the filmmakers socials have steered extremely true to the original 1964 series.

This isn’t the first time the franchise has been recalibrated for modern audiences. Back in the 1980s, they resurfaced as The Munsters Today—the longest-running series in the property’s history. In 2012 NBC gave a reboot a try with Bryan Fuller at the helm. While the pilot for Mockingbird Lane has its fans, it wasn’t enough for the network to push the iteration forward as a series.

The original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick, and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together, the group played the average nuclear American family. But twist—they were a clan of monsters!

Lastly, there’s still no word if The Munsters will head to theaters, or if it’ll be exclusive through the streamer Peacock sometime in 2022.
