‘The Northman” Is A Violent Viking Epic From The Director Of ‘The Witch’ [Trailer]

From visionary director Robert Eggers (The Lighthouse) comes The Northman, an action-filled epic that follows a young Viking prince on his quest to avenge his father’s murder. It boasts an all-star cast that includes Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Anya Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Willem Dafoe.
Excitement for The Northman has been building steadily since the release of The Lighthouse in 2019. The third film from horror icon Robert Eggers is clearly taking a turn towards bigger, louder, and even more prestige. The ensemble selected for The Northman is giving Quentin Tarantino levels of brilliant madness. The following trailer is sure the whet your appetite for brutality.

I don’t know about you, but I am psyched as hell after watching that trailer. I have to admit, while I am waiting impatiently for Eggers to deliver unto us another traditional horror show, this third chapter looks impossibly epic. Speaking of horror, word has it The Northman may be followed up with a remake of Nosferatu starring The Northman and The Witch collaborator Anya Taylor-Joy.
Fun fact, according to the LA Times, when Anya Taylor-Joy wrapped shooting The Northman, director Robert Eggers gave her a sword as a present. He allegedly knighted her with it and everything. That girl is really living.
Focus Features will release The Northman in theaters on April 22, 2022. And you thought Winter 2022 was going to be long…
