‘The Munsters’: Rob Zombie Shares New BTS Image Of Grandpa Munster

The Munsters

Director Rob Zombie is back on Instagram today with a brand new processing image of Daniel Roebuck. The image itself showcases Roebuck in costume as Grandpa Munster from the forthcoming reboot of The Munsters.

The new instagram post showcases the character of Sam being fitted for his very own custom coffin. If you’re familiar with the original Munsters you’ll already know that Grandpa Munster is a vampire, along with his daughter Lily (being played by Sheri Moon Zombie in the reboot).

This is far from the first behind-the-scenes image Zombie has shared with us via his Instagram. The shock-rocker turned director has been dropping news and images non-stop since pre-production began earlier this year.

Dread Central recently had the opportunity to sit down the Grandpa Munster himself to chat about what it’s like working with Rob Zombie. Check out that video interview here below.

The original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together the group played the average nuclear American family. But twist — they were a clan of monsters!

Back in the 1980s, they resurfaced as The Munsters Today — the longest-running series in the property’s history. In 2012 NBC gave a reboot a try with Bryan Fuller at the helm. While the pilot for Mockingbird Lane has its fans, it wasn’t enough for the network to push the iteration forward as a series.

A notorious Munsters fan, Zombie has been chasing this film adaptation for twenty-some-odd years, according to the first Instagram post he shared on the subject. The new Rob Zombie film is set to be released in theatres and the streaming service Peacock on the same day. Keep an eye on Dread Central for more updates as they come in.
