The ‘Predator’ Reboot Is Now Retitled ‘Prey’, Premieres Summer 2022

We recently uncovered via Disney+ Day that the latest entry in the Predator universe is officially titled Prey and will be unleashed via Hulu this summer.

The project hails from director Dan Trachtenberg (10 Cloverfield Lane) and will feature an Indigenous woman in the lead role. The sequel has been in development for some time, and been referred to as a reboot on numerous occasions.

The film was once revealed to be titled Skulls. However, a new title, release date, and first look were revealed last Friday as part of the annual Disney+ Day event.

The official premise for Prey is as follows:

“Set in the world of the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, the action-thriller follows Naru, the skilled warrior who fiercely protects her tribe against a highly evolved alien predator.”

Additionally, the screenplay for Prey was written by Patrick Aison. He has also worked on projects like Kingdom, Jack Ryan and Treadstone.

Collider initially broke the news over the summer about the next Predator installment.

The feature stars Amber Midthunder (Legion) as a warrior, and the film’s only hope against the relentless killer. Producer John Davis disclosed that the idea is to recreate the vibe of the original film, but now Amber Midthunder is taking over the reins from Arnold. According to the film’s producers, the story is going back to the basics of human versus Predator.

The new film has also finished shooting. This was confirmed by a photo shared by cinematographer Jeff Cutter via Instagram.
