VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Now Shares A Release Date with HALLOWEEN KILLS
Bad news for horror cinema today. Out of concerns about the increasingly devastating Delta variant, Sony Pictures has pushed the release date for Venom: Let There Be Carnage to October 15th. This pits Carnage up against horror icon Michael Myers, as it’s the same date Halloween Kills is set to premiere, Variety reports.
While Halloween Kills is hardly an independent production, it’s still a much smaller release than Marvel property Venom. This competition has the potential to divide Halloween Kill’s integral first weekend profits.
Due to COVID-19 cases being back on the rise in the United States, this latest Venom juggle comes as no surprise to anyone who’s been keeping tabs. The deadly increase of Covid-19 cases has also been responsible for a dip in box office numbers. Take a look at The Suicide Squad‘s opening weekend numbers to see what I mean.
The numerous pushes in Venom’s schedule don’t seem to phase star Tom Hardy, who has already discussed the possibility of a third film in an interview with Esquire.
“Should both sides be willing, and it be beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be,” Hardy mentioned to Esquire about the rumoured crossover with Tom Holland.
Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as Venom in the new sequel is directed by Andy Serkis. The movie also stars Michelle Williams, and Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady/Carnage.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage is currently scheduled to hit theatres on Oct. 15, 2021. Will Universal move Halloween Kills, or will Myers and Carnage go head to head? Time will tell…
