Filmax Is Filming a [REC] Documentary Titled TERROR SIN PAUSA – UPDATED with Trailer

The formula of the found footage film has been reproduced, reduplicated, copied, and repackaged more times than can be counted. However, the subgenre boasts a rabid fan base. The formula is often told from the point of view of the camera and has spawned numerous creative titles and stories over the years. From Man Bites Dog to The Blair Witch Project. Or even more recently, Paranormal Activity to Host, the style continues to be popular.

Among the many found footage films produced over the decades, [REC] remains arguably one of the best in the genre. Initially released in 2007, [REC] spawned three sequels and inspired the 2008 American remake Quarantine starring the always phenomenal Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter, The Exorcism of Emily Rose).

Now, the masterminds behind the [REC] film series, Filmax, have begun initial photography on a documentary highlighting the success of their [REC] film series, entitled [REC] Horror Without Pause (Terror Sin Pausa, the original language title). The documentary will feature interviews with the film’s directors, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza. As well as producers Julio Fernández, Carlos Fernández, Carles Rojano and Oriol Maymó. Director of Photography Pablo Rosso, Special Effects Designer David Ambit, and stars Manuela Velasco, Carlos Lasarteand Javier Botet.

[REC] Terror Sin Pausa premiered at the Sitges Film Festival in 2022 and was an official selection at Frightfest in 2023.

“In addition to its directors, the documentary will take a tour of the different areas of production, interviewing the promoters of the idea, its main cast, professionals from areas such as art direction and photography direction, and prominent personalities such as Ángel Sala, director of the contest that gave birth to the phenomenon: the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia,”
