I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER Series Arrives This October

Amazon plans on dropping their mysterious I Know What You Did Last Summer series just in time for Halloween. The studio officially confirmed the release earlier this week, and fans have reason to be excited.

The new series will consist of eight episodes. It was originally announced all the back in 2019, which now seems like another lifetime. The remake series is based on the 1997 slasher and the 1973 YA novel by author Lois Duncan. Both were titled I Know What You Did Last Summer.

A few months ago saw the release of the remake’s casting. Get ready for a totally new group of fresh blood for the spill. Madison Iseman (Annabelle Comes Home), Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, Brooke Bloom, and Bill Heck have all been cast the modern retelling of the classic 90s slasher.

The series is spearheaded by Sara Goodman, who cut her teeth on the series Preacher. James Wan is also attached to produce this new series. At one point Wan was also directing the first episode. This job has been reassigned to Craig Macneill, who will also serve as an executive producer.

The original I Know What You Did Last Summer was given the big-screen treatment in 1997 by writer Kevin Williamson. Williamson was fresh off the heels of writing Scream and Scream 2 for Dimension Films. It is considered one of the grandfathers of the 90s teen slasher. The film starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., and Ryan Phillippe.

I Know What You Did Last Summer will see its premiere this October on Amazon Prime Video.

Here’s the official synopsis from the film

A year after running over a fisherman and dumping his body in the water, four friends reconvene when Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) receives a frightening letter telling her that their crime was seen. While pursuing who he thinks is responsible for the letter, Barry (Ryan Phillippe) is run over by a man with a meat hook. The bloodletting only increases from there, as the killer with the hook continues to stalk Julie, Helen (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
