Rob Zombie Now Shares Sneak Peek of Grandpa Munster’s Design In THE MUNSTERS

Another day, another cool update from Rob Zombie’s Instagram. Today the director teased fans with a sneak-peek of Grandpa Munster’s character design from his in-the-works reboot of The Munsters!

Zombie continued his behind-the-scenes pre-production tour by posting a photo of Grandpa Munster’s instantly recognizable hairdo. It’s one of the most iconic symbols from the classic 1964 sitcom.

The director posted the hair with a caption asking his followers to guess who the wig could be for. However, the answer was absolutely self-explanatory…

Check it out!

Grandpa Munster went by the full name of Sam Dracula. Not exactly complicated satire, but we’re still excited to find out who will play the memorable character in the new movie.

The original cast of The Munsters featured Fred Gwynne, Yvonne de Carlo, Beverly Owen, Butch Patrick and Al Lewis as Grandpa Munster. Together the group played the average nuclear American family. But twist — they were a clan of monsters!

This isn’t the first time the franchise has been recalibrated for modern audiences. Back in the 1980s, they resurfaced as The Munsters Today — the longest-running series in the property’s history. In 2012 NBC gave a reboot a try with Bryan Fuller at the helm. While the pilot for Mockingbird Lane has its fans, it wasn’t enough for the network to push the iteration forward as a series.

A notorious Munsters fan, Zombie has been chasing this film adaptation for twenty-some-odd years, according to the first Instagram post he shared on the subject. The new Rob Zombie film is set to be released in theatres and the streaming service Peacock on the same day. Keep an eye on Dread Central for more updates as they come in.
