Exclusive Track Premiere: “Hunting” from PIG–Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

Lakeshore Records is set to release digitally the original music by Alexis Grapsas and Philip Klein to the forthcoming film Pig on July 16th.  The score reflects the mood of the lead character played by Nicolas Cage with the simple “folk” like colors of the solo violin and acoustic guitars creating a richly mournful tone. More modern, aggressive electric guitars, distorted colors and drums provide a strikingly ominous, propulsive backdrop to his more intense moments. The NEON film, written and directed by Michael Sarnoski will be released in theaters on July 16th.

Today, Dread Central is thrilled to exclusively debut the track “Hunting” from the Pig Original Motion Picture Soundtrack! Give it a spin below the trailer and synopsis for Pig.

Synopsis:
A truffle hunter who lives alone in the Oregonian wilderness must return to his past in Portland in search of his beloved foraging pig after she is kidnapped.

Pig is directed by Michael Sarnoski from a screenplay he co-wrote with Vanessa Block. The film stars Nicolas Cage, Alex Wolff, and Adam Arkin.

Alexis Grapsas says this about the film’s score: “The score was born after lots of trial and error and experimentation under the guidance and vision of the filmmakers, where we tried very original acoustic and electric sounds. In the process of creating an environment that would capture the lead character’s emotional world, we landed on a very unique raw and gritty sound that remains true to the story while being self-aware.”
