RT Features Partners with Director Prano Bailey-Bond for THINGS WE LOST IN THE FIRE

If you’re not familiar with filmmaker Prano Bailey-Bond yet, you will be! This young Welsh writer and director was named 2021’s “Director to Watch” by Variety. Her first feature Censor opened the midnight section of the 2021 Sundance Film Festival and is a fantastic film inspired by the British “video nasties” era of horror cinema.

In news coming out of Cannes, Prano Bailey-Bond will write and direct Things We Lost In The Fire, based on the short story of the same name by Argentine journalist and novelist Mariana Enriquez.

Bailey-Bond is co-writing the script with Anthony Fletcher (Censor, The Boat People). RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira (Call Me By Your Name), and Lourenco Sant’Anna (The Lighthouse) will produce along with Alan Terpins (The Lighthouse) will serve as Executive Producer.

Synopsis: A terrorized female community resorts to ever more extreme actions in response to male violence. The story marries elements of horror and feminism in a subversive commentary on the modern-day beauty myth; a dark vision of a society where women take back control of their image in the most drastic manner imaginable.

Mariana Enriquez’s Las cosas que perdimos en el fuego was translated into English in 2017 by Megan McDowell and published as Things We Lost In The Fire by Portobello Books in the U.K. and Hogarth in the U.S.

Prano Bailey-Bond commented: “This is an incredibly provocative and relevant story with a ferocious energy at its heart. It’s an honour to adapt this story for the screen. RT Features have produced some of the most exciting cinema of recent years, working with many of my filmmaking heroes. I’m beyond thrilled to be working with them on this truly exciting project.”

After seeing Censor, myself just a few days ago, I am excited for this project!
