Supernatural is a giant property. You’d be hard-pressed to find a horror fan who hasn’t at least watched a few episodes. You’d also have no problem finding someone who’s seen all of it. Possibly someone who owns the comic books, and has a demon trap decal on their back windshield. What I’m saying is, it’s a big deal. It recently ended with its 15th season. The CW, surprising approximately no one, wants to go back to the world of Supernatural. The new series The Winchesters is in development.
Synopsis:
Before Sam and Dean, there was John and Mary. Told from the perspective of narrator Dean Winchester (Jensen Ackles), The Winchesters is the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary and how they put it all on the line to not only save their love, but the entire world.

Heady stuff! Ackles recently spoke to Deadline about the series. “After Supernatural wrapped it’s 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?’ When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wantted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So i love the shought of having him take us on this journey.”
I haven’t seen any casting news. Honestly I think it’d be hard to have a John and Mary Winchester story without Jeffrey Dean Morgan. If he’s down to reprise his role, I’m down to watch it. Ackles, – when not narrating this new entry to the Supernatural universe – can be seen in the upcoming third season of Amazon’s The Boys.
Supernatural holds the record for longest-running sci-fi/genre series in television history. It only makes sense that The CW would want the creative team back in the fold.
