INSIDE NO. 9 Creator Wants to Write a Gnarly Horror Movie for Ben Wheatley

INSIDE NO. 9 Creator Reece Shearsmith Wants to Write a Gnarly Horror Movie for KILL LIST and THE MEG 2, and IN THE EARTH director Ben Wheatley

For those that might not know, Reece Shearsmith is a name all horror fans should recognize for his killer British shows like Psychoville and Inside No. 9. And today, Shearsmith says he wants to try writing a horror movie for Kill List and The Meg 2 director Ben Wheatley.

Sounds good to us!

Shearsmith tells Post Mortem with Mick Garris: “I’d like to do a film. I think me and Steve [Pemberton] should write a film. We’ve never quite dared to do it, and I don’t know why, what’s holding us back. But Ben [Wheatley] is always saying, ‘Write your film, I’ll direct it. Write some horrible, gnarly old film.’ [Laughs] So we might do that. That’d be great.”

Inside No. 9 is an anthology show featuring darkly comic tales, each of which takes place inside a building or apartment marked number nine. Whether in a grand country house where an innocent game leads to chilling revelations, a primary school teacher’s one-bedroom flat, or a historic village in the grip of a witch hunt, the buildings are the sites of tales with unexpected twists that, in many cases, take a turn for the horrific. All of the stories come from the minds of writers Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, who also star in some episodes.

Up next for Ben Wheatley is the much-anticipated killer shark sequel The Meg 2 with Jason Statham. Bring it on!
