Ever since NBC aired its reinvention of “The Munsters,” “Mockingbird Lane,” as a Halloween special instead of a series, we’ve all been wondering if the network would decide to give the show a regular spin. Today the answer has come.

Showrunner Bryan Fuller took to Twitter to deliver the news firsthand:

“I tweet with a heavy heart. NBC not moving forward with #MockingbirdLane. From producers and cast, thank you all for enthusiasm and support.”

Well, there you have it, kids. Who needs a new show that’s kind of fun when the peacock has ratings-getters like “Whitney,” “Guys With Kids,” and the like?

Portia DeRossi and Jerry O’Connell starred as Lily and Herman Munster, Eddie Izzard was Grandpa, Mason Cook was Eddie, and Charity Wakefield was Marilyn.
