Shimidah Concept Art Now Introduces Us to a Titan We Didn’t Meet in Legendary’s MonsterVerse

Artist Ken Barthelmey recently introduced the world to Shimidah, a Titan he designed for Legendary’s MonsterVerse who never actually came to fruition. While Legendary asked Barthelemy to remove the concept art shortly after he initially shared it on Twitter, it was too late to put this genie back in the bottle. Our friends at Godzilla-Movies.com snagged those images, which we can also share with you below.

MonsterVerse

Shimidah reminds this journalist of the Sarlacc from Return of the Jedi; it appears this MonsterVerse creature buries itself underground, leaving its opened mouth just below the surface. Anyone unlucky enough to find themselves directly above Shimidah’s maw is likely to be digested!

MonsterVerse

As for why Legendary asked Barthelmy to take down his Shimidah MonsterVerse concept art, the artist claims the studio may still use the Titan in another film. Whether this is proof of Legendary’s commitment to continuing the MonsterVerse remains to be seen.

Godzilla vs Kong is still playing in US theaters nationwide and available to stream on HBO Max.
