Principal photography begins later this month in New Mexico.

Dig centers on widower (Jane) and his teen daughter (Harlow Jane), whose strained relationship reaches a breaking point when they’re held hostage by intruders and forced to dig under a vacant house, revealing a dark secret from the past.

Banipal and Benhur Ablakhad penned the script.

The thriller reunites Thomas Jane with the team behind his upcoming vampire horror-comedy Slayers with Abigail Breslin (Signs) and Malin Akerman (Watchmen).

Slayers director K. Asher Levin will also helm Dig, while Slayers producers Daniel Cummings and Robert Dean will also lend their producing power to this new thriller.

Thomas Jane will also serve as an executive producer with Clay Epstein, Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor, Grady Craig, and Courtney Lauren Penn (Gallowwalkers).

Penn said in a statement: “I’m beyond excited to see Thomas and Harlow on screen together and witness the magic they create in roles tailor-made for them. This authentic connection will serve the film so well.”

Penn also produces Jane’s new adaptation of Stephen King’s From a Buick 8. The flick marks Jane’s fourth collaboration with King after 1922, The Mist, and Dreamcatcher.

Papa Jane and Daughter Jane previously paired up for the 10-hour 2015 History Channel miniseries, Texas Rising. Bill Paxton and Jeffrey Dean Morgan co-starred.

The historical drama series explored the fight for an independent Texas. It occurred following the conclusion of the Battle of the Alamo. Gen Sam Houston (Paxton) leads a ragtag group of Texas Rangers into battle against Mexican Gen Santa Anna (Olivier Martinez). Houston and the Rangers fight seemingly insurmountable odds to overtake the opponent and gain independence.

Brendan Fraser rounded out the killer cast which also included the likes of Jake Busey, Crispin Glover, Kris Kristofferson, Jeremy Davies, Courtney Gains, Christopher McDonald, Chad Michael Murray, Jeff Fahey, Johnathon Schaech, and Ray Liotta.
