The BEST SCARY MOVIES Ever According to James Gunn

James Gunn is more than just the man behind such mega-hits as Guardians of the Galaxy and the upcoming Suicide Squad sequel. We know him for his genre flicks like Dawn of the Dead (writer), Slither (writer-director), and Brightburn (producer).

Basically, Gunn is a trusted name in the horror genre. And today, Gunn took to Twitter to share some of his favorite horror films throughout the decades.

For the record, his picks breakdown like this:

  • 60s: Night of the Living Dead, The Birds, Peeping Tom, Rosemary’s Baby
  • 70s: Jaws, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Brood, Martin
  • 80s: The Thing, Evil Dead 2, They Live, The Fly
  • 90s: Audition
  • 2000: The Host, A Tale of Two Sisters, 28 Days Later, Saw

Again, his top pick seems to be director Takashi Miike’s disturbing thriller Audition.

It follows a widower who decides to start dating again. Aided by a film-producer friend, he uses auditions for a fake production to function as a dating service. When he becomes intrigued by a withdrawn, gorgeous girl, they begin a relationship. However, he begins to realize that she isn’t as reserved as she appears to be, leading to gradually increased tension and a harrowing climax.
