Horror History: Happy Birthday to Man, Myth & Legend, Brad Dourif!

On this day in horror history, Brad Dourif was born in Huntington, West Virginia in 1950. Dourif is horror royalty. His classics include The Exorcist III, Dune, Blue Velvet, Graveyard Shift, and Rob Zombie’s Halloween I & II under his belt.

Other notable genre credits include Eyes of Laura Mars, Grim Prairie Tales, Body Parts, Critters 4, Trauma, Alien Resurrection, Urban Legend, Prophecy 3, and Priest.

He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his first movie role, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. His other notable non-genre work includes Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans, Heaven’s Gate, and Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings.

He’s also been a major force in TV land with roles in shows such as The Equalizer, Moonlighting, The Hitchhiker, Miami Vice, Babylon 5, Star Trek: Voyager, Law & Order, Fringe, Psych, Wilfred, Criminal Minds, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Plus, horror mainstays Tales from the Crypt, The X-Files, Millennium, and his Emmy-nominated role as Dr. Amos “Doc” Cochran on HBO’s Deadwood.

But Dourif will always be best known for voicing Chucky in Child’s Play, Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky, Seed of Chucky, Curse of Chucky, and Cult of Chucky. It’s fittingly then that his next project is SyFy’s Child’s Play series, Chucky.
